Lanzarote Restaurant Review, La Gamba Loca

It was a lovely Sunday afternoon and we fancied a drive out to the coast. Taking the scenic route through Timanfaya, we finally arrived in El Golfo too late for lunch and too early for a sunset dinner.

La Gamba Loca El Golfo

We decided to have a walk through the village to see if we could find somewhere offering tapas, rather than fresh fish which is usually on our minds when eating in El Golfo.

La Gamba Loca wasn’t a place we’d tried before, and they had a tapas special offer of 6 dishes for €15.   read more »

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Nico's

We were meeting friends in Puerto del Carmen recently, one of whom is a coeliac, so we wanted a restaurant that could offer a gluten free menu.

Nicos Puerto del Carmen

The eight of us met at Nico’s on Calle Anzuelo in the centre of the new town area of Puerto del Carmen. Luckily, there was a large table free on the terrace, although we hadn’t booked in advance.

There’s an extensive menu at this restaurant plus a daily specials board, it took me a while to decide and then I changed my mind at the last minute. A three course menu is available priced at €22,50 with a choice of 6 different starters, main courses and 5 desserts.

Nicos Garlic Cheese Bread

One of our friends had eaten here before and sold us on the baked garlic bread with cheese starter. We weren’t disappointed, this was delicious, baked crusty on the outside and soft in the middle, oozing with cheese.  read more »

Cook in Lanzarote

There’s a brand new activity available in Lanzarote, and the best part is that it involves food and drink!

Véro & Antonio are a French and Spanish couple who are passionate foodies, like many of us they fell in love with Lanzarote on their first visit. The couple previously lived in Paris, their crazy dream to give up their stressful lives and live in paradise is now a reality and Cook in Lanzarote was created. Antonio trained at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon to become a professional chef and he’s a master at his family’s traditional Spanish recipes. Véro is a marketing professional, between them they have a winning formula to make a great success of this unique food experience in Lanzarote.

Cook In Lanzarote Reception

The Cook in Lanzarote premises in Uga are fabulous! Véro kindly gave us a guided tour of the spacious two kitchen areas, one is set up with electric stations, and the other with gas. The kitchen garden was visible through the large picture windows, where herbs and vegetables are already flourishing. These plants have been sourced from local organic growers, the idea being that clients can pick their ingredients fresh from the garden before cooking.   read more »

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, MargheRita

We stopped in Puerto Calero for lunch this week as we needed something quick to fill a gap between meetings and we fancied pizza.

MargheRita Puerto Calero

Miguel went for his usual, a pepperoni pizza but I spotted something on the menu described as a chicken salad pizza, which intrigued me.  read more »

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, La Opera

We’ve eaten at La Opera in Playa Honda a couple of times before, but hadn’t reviewed this restaurant. Our most recent trip was on the way to the airport before flying to the UK.

La Opera Playa Honda

La Opera have three types of set menu from which you can select a 3 course meal, the prices are Menu 1 €10.90, Menu 2 €12.90 and Menu 3 €14.90, or you can order individual items off the a la carte menu.

It’s a tough choice deciding which menu to go for, as they are all good!  read more »

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Restaurante Italica

We were looking for somewhere to enjoy Sunday lunch whilst walking along the promenade by Matagorda and Playa Los Pocillos, when the Restaurant Itálica caught our eye.

Restaurante Italica Lanzarote

We’d noticed this restaurant previously as it’s popular in the evenings, and especially on a Friday night when they have Flamenco entertainment. The name translates as Italian Restaurant so you can expect to find pizza and pasta on their menu, they also offer a great selection of Spanish tapas dishes too as well as International cuisine.  read more »
