No Coverage in Famara

Residents and businesses in Famara are struggling to get a signal for mobile phone coverage or an internet connection since the last antenna was closed down at the beginning of June.

The village has been divided into those who need a connection and those campaigned for the antenna to be removed due to it’s proximity to the local school. Famara used to have four antennas but following protests from parents the Ayuntamiento of Teguise asked Unelco to switch off the electricity supply to shut down the last remaining one.

Last Minute Bookings For Lanzarote

Asolan, the Association of Hotels and Apartments in Lanzarote are confident that the rush for last minute bookings for holidays in Lanzarote will help to increase the occupancy figures by 5% compared to the months of July, August and September recorded in 2010.

Actually the numbers of Italians visiting Lanzarote have already increased tenfold in the first five months of 2011 compared to the previous year.

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Afrodite Little Italy

I was meandering around Marina Rubicón with a friend recently enjoying a browse of the local shops and restaurants there last week, it was surprisingly quiet although it was Thursday so there were no market stalls and this still remains the main change over day for Lanzarote.

Craving a lunch of grilled fresh fish and a glass of white wine, we were disappointed that the restaurants were either closed or didn’t tempt us as we walked by. Heading towards Lani’s Snack Bar which is always popular with its varied range of International dishes we spotted Afrodite Little Italy set back from the waterfront. Reading the daily special’s board we decided that pasta was the dish of the day rather than fish and we picked our table on the shaded terrace area.
