15:00 BBQ and live music from Konfetti at Club Atlantico in Puerto del Carmen

16:00 St Patrick’s Day Party at Rooftops, Playa Blanca

17:00 The Crown Bar in Costa Teguise have traditional Irish food and entertainment

20:00 Villa Pipol Batucada parade from C.C. La Hoya / Jardines del Puerto to the Irish Harbour Bar in Puerto del Carmen

Lanzarote Wine With Chocolate, 24th March 2011

Canarian chef Pedro Rodríguez Dios will be creating a menu combining chocolate with seven different Lanzarote wines for a special evening at the Monumento al Campesino on the 24th March 2011. Pedro Rodríguez Dios courtesy de Masquetendencias

The event is the first of three planned for this year with the aim of combining wines from Lanzarote with gastronomy and culture.

I’ve just got back from a week’s Stand Up Paddling, or SUPing, in Lanzarote. Stand Up Paddle for anyone not familiar with this sport essentially involves standing up on a giant surfboard and using a single bladed paddle to propel yourself across the water, a bit like a Venetian gondola. Unlike gondolas however you can take your SUP board into any watery terrain from flat, tranquil lagoons, to gentle beach breaks and even into powerful reef break surf. The fact that Lanzarote combines all of these ‘terrains’, mild sea temperatures and predictable trade winds makes it one of the best destinations for the sport that I’ve ever been to.  read more »

Canaries Alternative Music Festival, 20th March 2011

The sixth edition of the FMAC (Festival de Músicas Alternativas de Canarias) will be held around the Canary Islands from the 18th March to the 16th April 2011. The event is an opportunity to enjoy a wide sampling of contemporary music styles from across the archipelago.

Haria Carnival Programme 2011

Haría Carnaval 2011 The Ayuntamiento of Haría have released their carnival programme for 2011, this year’s theme is witches.

The events run from Friday 18th through to Sunday the 20th March, the carnival procession is always a popular one in Haria with many of the main groups from Arrecife attending. The procession will leave the cemetery at 18:30 on Saturday 19th making it’s way along Calle San Juan where it turns left into Calle de Encarnación Rodríguez and left again where the floats will settle around the Plaza Leon y Castillo and Plaza de la Constitución for the party.
