In August this year my niece Claudia Adamson is attempting to climb to Mount Everest base camp at 18,192ft altitude. This is to raise funds for Sparks a children’s medical research charity. The 30th April 2011 will see an amazing concert in Plaza de Las Naciones (Los Pocillos Beach), Puerto del Carmen in order to raise money for 5 different local charities. Organised by the Lanzarote Business Association, the concert will run from 3pm on the Saturday afternoon, right through until the early hours of Sunday. Thursday 17th March is of course St Patrick’s Day and will be variously celebrated across Lanzarote. The shamrock parade is scheduled for Friday 18th March making a weekend of events in Puerto del Carmen. However I had a quick round up of the Irish bars in Costa Teguise to check out what’s on. The racing from the four day Cheltenham Festival is a firm favourite especially on St Patrick’s Day featuring Irish trained horses and riders.
